Empowering Communities: Own a Cooperative Lending Company and School

Are you ready to take control of your community's financial future? Inspired by the transformative principles of PowerNomics® by Dr. Claud Anderson, we are building a cooperative lending company and school that empowers communities to solve their own problems, generate wealth, and share in the success.

This groundbreaking initiative is rooted in unity, collective economics, and self-determination. Community members pool resources, share in the profits, and benefit from commissions paid directly to the owners of the cooperative. Together, we can create lasting solutions to uplift the communities we call home.

Not Checkers.

Not Checkers is a multigenerational social event held every second Saturday at CultureHUB. The event incorporates chess and life lessons from community leaders of diverse backgrounds to benefit students of all ages and promotes community engagement. Research suggests that regular chess practice enhances cognitive abilities, including mental acuity, alertness, memory, attention span, and overall brain function, when compared to individuals who do not engage in chess. The event commences with a welcoming address and motivational thought for the day. It proceeds with group lessons tailored to skill levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced), followed by practice time with a partner. Lunch is provided as part of the event, and special guest speakers are invited to share their insights.

One Mic Stand 11 Year Anniversary Celebration

One Mic Stand began on Friday, November 1st, 2013 outside of Fair Trade Cafe in Civic Space Park. Over the years, OMS has been a space designed to not only entertain but to provide a space for artists to grow. Eleven years later, on Friday, November 1st, 2024, join us as we celebrate One Mic Stand with a cypher-style open mic; there’s no list, if the mic is open and you want to share a piece, the mic is yours! This anniversary celebration includes a feature from One Mic Stand founder/host, Truth B. Told, performing a tapestry of poems spanning over 20 years including never-before-performed pieces.

Workshop begins at 6:30pm; Anniversary Celebration begins at 7:30pm. One Mic Stand is now free as part of The Gateway, a family-friendly First Friday event at Phoenix Center of the Arts.
